MiDT Laparoscopy became a member of NASCE in 2016 under the previous name of the center: Norwegian National Advisory Unit on Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery (NSALK)

The center is located at St. Olavs hospital in Trondheim, Norway.


The main task of MiDT Laparoscopy is to raise competence on a national level within the laparoscopic field. The focus areas are:

1) Hosting courses and training to strengthen and advance competence and skills relating to laparoscopic, endo­scopic and minimal invasive surgery, and ensure that these proficiencies are present in all Norwegian hospitals.

2) Conduct ongoing research to evaluate the effectiveness of simulator based training methods and identify areas for improvement.

3) Collaborate with industry partners to explore new technologies and innovations in surgical simulation.

The center is funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Health and Care Services.
